Carnac Island – a destination worth exploring!
We had some friends visiting from Broome so we decided to take the ‘Escapade’ out for the day. The ‘Escapade’ is our 12metre Catamaran.
We left from Fremantle Fishing Harbour and headed out to Carnac Island, which took approximately 30 mins.
Carnac Island is a 19-hectare nature reserve. It is located about 10 km southwest of Fremantle. The island is home to Australian Sea Lions, Bottlenose Dolphins and a large range of marine life. It is also infamous for its abundance of Tiger Snakes.
Once we reached Carnac Island, we started up the BBQ on the back deck and had a nice lunch of crayfish, sausages, chops and salad.
After lunch, we jumped into the tender and went to take a closer look at the seals.
Most of them were lazing in the sun but there were a couple jumping out of the water.
When we got back to the boat, we set up the jolly jumper for my son Zac. He happily bounced away whilst we spent some time relaxing and swimming off the back of the boat.
When it came time to head back, our 2-year-old son Alby decided he wanted to help drive the yacht. A job he took very seriously!
It was a lovely day and I can’t wait to go out again!
